Canon 5D Mark II Review

The Canon EOS 5D was (and is) a legendary camera. It was the first full-frame professional camera designed with amateurs in mind, featuring a lightweight, compact body and user-friendly features. With its ability to make even complete amateurs’ shots look like they were taken by a professional, coupled with Canon’s renowned quality, the EOS 5D became one of the top-selling digital cameras of all time.

A few years later, Canon’s back with an update to the EOS 5D. Known as the 5D Mark II, this camera is designed to deliver everything that was great about the EOS 5D with cutting-edge updates to its features. We recently got a chance to perform a Canon 5D Mark II review, and couldn’t be happier with the results.

Our Canon 5D Mark II review found that the Mark II delivers on its promises. This camera retains the feel of the EOS 5D, but bears some sparkly new features that take it way beyond its predecessor’s capabilities. The Mark II features a huge 21 MP sensor, in speedy CMOS instead of the slower CCD form factor. The ISO range is enormous, going from 100-3200 in auto mode, 100-6400 in calibrated range and zooming between 50 and 25600. Dial the noise or grain any way you want it; the Canon 5D Mark II review we performed proved that this camera can handle it.

We were very surprised at the overall speed of this camera during our Canon 5D Mark II review. Beyond the sensor and ISO capabilities, the Mark II is fitted with a fast DIGIC 4 processor and lots of automatic features that speed up your time between shots. Even the video is fast, with 3.9 FPS in continuous shooting mode. The final verdict of our Canon 5D Mark II review is that this camera provides the same newbie-friendly features and professional capabilities as the EOS 5D. No matter how unskilled you are with a camera, the 5D Mark II will make you look like a pro.
